Advent Magic in in Lungau
Advent Magic
A PEACEFUL AND REFLECTIVE TIME
Advent in Salzburger Lungau is an especially peaceful and reflective time of year.
Christmas traditions and regional delicacies captivate all visitors, big and small. Here, between the mountains of the Radstädter Tauern and Carinthian Nockberge, beloved folk customs are as much a part of today’s world as they have been for countless generations.
“Silent Night! Holy Night!”
From 1815 to 1817, Joseph Mohr served as an assistant priest in the Lungau community of Mariapfarr. During this time, he wrote the text of the world-famous Christmas song “Silent Night”.
